Saturday, 7 September from 4.30pm to 12.30am.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic folks to help us as table hosts, wine booth volunteers, ushers or drivers.
Transport home from the Ball will be reimbursed and bento meal will be provided.
Volunteers are also required to attend ONE volunteer briefing before the Ball.
ROLE 1: TABLE HOST VOLUNTEERS
- Help us manage three tables that will be assigned to you along with another Table Host
- Go-to person for guests should they have questions about the programme or auction/fundraising channels
- Report to Table Host I/Cs for any guests requests that are more complex
- Ensure that guests are having a good time
- Collect remaining booklets and check the tables at the end of the event

ROLES 2 TO 5:
2. WINE BOOTH VOLUNTEERS
- Assist guests to purchase bottles of wine at this booth in the Foyer
- Check payment status and issue bottle upon purchase
3. WELCOME USHERS & RUNNERS
- Help us check in guests who arrive and help direct them to the right tables to register or make payment
- Assist AWARE staff during the stage program
4. DRIVER (AD HOC THROUGH JUL & AUG)
- Collect auction items from various sponsors (through Jul/Aug, working with your availability)
- Help us bring items onsite to the event on morning of 7 Sept
5. EVENT PREP HELPERS
- Help us at the AWARE office for simple prep and packing for the Ball

2 ★ Call for Ball Committee Volunteers! ★
Our annual fundraising gala is on Saturday, 7 September at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore and we need your help to make it a success!
Support us by joining as a Ball Committee member for AWARE Ball 2024: Power/Play! The funds raised goes into supporting our critical programmes and services like our Women’s Helpline and Sexual Assault Care Centre.
Scope of Volunteer Work:
- Reach out to in-kind sponsors for the auction, lucky dip and other potential partners in your networks
- Contribute feedback on other Ball plans and strategies, including new fundraising avenues and how to better appeal to sponsors and corporate donors, guest experience, etc.
- Sell tables and seats

3 ★ Legal Clinic Volunteer Lawyer ★
Women’s Care Centre (WCC) provides helpline support, legal clinic, counselling and support group services to women who are in distress or at a time of uncertainty in their lives. WCC offers a free legal clinic for women twice a month. Women who experience family violence, marital issues, divorce, harassment, and other matters under Family Law come to our legal clinic to understand their legal rights and options.
We are seeking qualified lawyers to provide pro bono legal advice at our legal clinic sessions. Click here for more information about this role at the legal clinic.
Commitment: At least six sessions a year for a minimum of two years. The sessions are typically held two Thursdays a month, 7 – 9:30 p.m.
Qualifications:

Called to the Singapore Bar

Experience in practicing Family Law – Syariah or POHA a bonus

Proficiency in speaking and writing English and preferably at least proficient in one other spoken language: Chinese, Malay or Tamil

4 ★ (Remote) Receptionist for AWARE's Main Phone Line ★
AWARE’s general phone line (6779 7137) usually receives 10-15 calls a day. We need your help to make sure we don’t miss any calls.
Commitment: Mondays to Fridays only. Three or four days of reception duty and staffing our main line per month, done remotely via your phone/laptop. Full-day shifts run from 10am to 6pm. We can adjust the schedule according to your availability.
Scope: Stand by to answer calls and take messages on our main phone line, which will be routed to your mobile phone.
Training: You will be provided with a 45-min training.

1 Helpliners (annual intake)
Recruitment for Helpliners is currently closed. To be notified when this form re-opens for next year’s training, please join this waitlist.
AWARE’s Helpline has been providing support to women in Singapore since 1990. Its purpose is to offer empathy, support, encouragement and referrals to women in need of assistance. The Helpline is operated solely by trained volunteers.
Once a year, AWARE offers an intensive training programme to a new batch of dedicated and passionate women who want to donate their time in order to help others. Eligible volunteers take part in a three-phase training programme which focuses on a number of topics such as counselling skills, abuse and violence, sexual assault, family law and Sharia Law, etc. This training programme prepares volunteers to provide valuable support and information to callers on the Helpline.
Location: At the AWARE Centre (Block 5 Dover Crescent #01-22)
Hours:
- Weekdays between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Shifts of 2-3 hours are set according to your availability
Expected commitment
- Completion of training course
- One 3-hour slot per week for the first three months after completion of the training, and then three 3-hour slots per month thereafter
- Duration of commitment: Two years in total including Helpline training
As a Helpliner, you will:
- Answer calls made to the AWARE Helpline
- Capture call details on our online system
- Identify advocacy issues
- Refer clients to internal and external services
- Work directly under experienced staff supervision
Requirements:
- Must be female and be over 23 years old
- Must complete a formal application form (to be sent to applicant at later date).
- Must be an AWARE member (S$40 per year)
- Must pay a non-refundable training fee (S$80)
- Second language preferred (Malay/Tamil/Mandarin)
Work location:
- Work is to be performed within the AWARE office or remotely when required.

2 Pro Bono Consultants
From time to time, AWARE has the need for expertise from a variety of fields including:
- HR
- Fundraising
- Accounting and Audit
- Governance and Compliance
- Media, PR and Communications
- Audio Visual Solutions
Consultants will typically be leaders and/or subject matter experts in their field.
You may have a busy career but with bandwidth to provide consulting support a few hours a week or perhaps you are on a career break and are interested in devoting more time to a cause you find meaningful.
Volunteer as a Pro Bono consultant
Those who volunteer as consultants will be added to our database of experts and will be contacted as and when there is a matching need. At that time, we can work out a pro bono consulting arrangement that fits your availability.

3 Admin Support
Function Team: Varies
Where: AWARE CentreAWARE is regularly looking for persons with strong organisational skills. We often need help in a variety of ways from data entry to filing, tallying surveys, reorganising our files and making phone calls. Work will normally be done at AWARE centre but some tasks may be done remotely.
Skills needed:
- Good organisational skills
- Attention to detail
- Good communication skills (depending on task)
- Good people skills
- Willingness to do repetitive tasks
- Ability to use Gmail, Google Docs, Spreadsheets
Time commitment: Usually a minimum of two days a week, for at least two months. Our biggest demand for this assistance is typically from mid-August to May when most university students are not available to volunteer.

4 Translators
Function Team: Various Teams
Where: RemoteAWARE produces reports, position papers and policy submissions on issues related to women in Singapore. Likewise it often issues media releases and other communication. These sometimes need to be translated into other languages, including:
- Mandarin
- Tamil
- Malay
- Vietnamese
We prefer those who are experienced translators or who are strongly bilingual.
Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week depending on publication schedule.
For Mandarin, Tamil and Malay translators, please fill in our volunteer application form so we can reach you for ad hoc tasks

5 Consultant: Digital Marketing and PR
Function Team: Catalyse (AWARE’s corporate training arm)
Where: RemoteVolunteers in this area will have at least 5 years working experience in the corporate world and have the confidence and knowledge to advise Catalyse on digital outreach as well as guide marketing campaigns online.
Skills needed:
- Experience in digital marketing strategy
- Adept with Linkedin
- Good people and communication skills
- Knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics a strong plus
- Understanding of the corporate training market and/or HR is an asset
Time commitment: 3-5 hours per week

6 Board Committee Member
Function Team: AWARE Secretariat
Where: Meetings are held in person either at the AWARE center or other locations.Board committee members play a strategic role in the work of AWARE.
We are interested in expertise in the following areas: HR, PR, comms, fundraising, event organisation, accounting, audit, governance and compliance, social work, research and advocacy, business development, strategic and financial management.
If you are interested in joining the AWARE board, choosing to become a Board Committee Member is an excellent first step.
Time commitment:
On average the board committee meet once a quarter. Additionally, there may other tasks depending on what team members agree to take up. -
7 Design and Video Production
Function Team: Varies
Where: AWARE centre and RemoteVolunteers in this area will be helping AWARE create media such as:
- video and animation for public awareness and advocacy
- graphics for website or social media
- layouts for reports, brochures and other materials
Skills needed:
- Graphic design and illustration
- Videography and editing
- Photography and image editing
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or similar programmes
Time commitment: Variable and ad hoc depending on event.

8 IT & Web Support
Function Team: AWARE Secretariat
Where: Mostly remote but occasionally onsiteThe volunteer consultant will provide IT support for the AWARE staff. This includes troubleshoot centre issues, helping with website design and update, fixing bugs and creating updates for our helpline, membership and events management systems. You may also be involved in advising on purchase of IT equipment or coordinating with vendors for hosting, telecoms, or networking.
Skills needed:
- Ability to program in PHP
- Understands web design
- HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery
- WordPress
- Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive
- Knowledge of G-suite
- cPanel and knowledge of webhosting
- Creative problem solving ability
Time commitment: Flexible, but volunteer must be able to commit for 6 months (minimum)

9 Event Organising/Fundraising
Time Commitment: Variable – may be working remotely, at events or at AWARE centre.
Function Team: AWARE Secretariat
Volunteers will be asked to help with coordinating sponsors, guest lists, caterers or be involved in the production of online and onsite events such as fundraising concerts, film premieres, AGM and the Annual Ball.
Those involved in fundraising may be asked to write grant proposals or connect with private donors. Volunteers can also initiate peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns or other online fundraising campaigns. The work will vary with intensity throughout the year.
Skills needed
- Good written and verbal communication skills including telephone manner
- Be organised, enthusiastic and energetic
- Experienced with fundraising and seeking sponsorship
- Graphic Design skills will be a plus

10 Researcher (limited positions)
Function Team: Advocacy, Research and Communications (ARC) team
Where: AWARE CentreThe ARC team produces reports, position papers and policy submissions on issues related to women in Singapore. Researchers can be tasked with researching and analysing data, creating surveys, recommending and advocating for policy changes and writing reports.
The team oversees evidence-based advocacy activities to target change at the levels of state, society and market. We ask that volunteers for our Research and Advocacy Team be strongly committed as to avoid high turnover.
Skills needed:
- Strong written communication
- Subject matter expertise depends on project
- Knowledge of spreadsheets
- Knowledge of survey apps and google forms a plus
- Data analysis and visualisation abilities are a plus
- Can reliably meet deadlines and time committments
Time commitment: Research subcommittees or project teams work remotely and usually meet one evening per month.

11 Support Group Facilitator
We are not actively recruiting support group facilitators at the moment. However, if you would like to express interest in joining our support group team, please submit your details here. We will be in touch when there is an available vacancy.
Function team: Women’s Care Centre, CARE Services
Where: AWARE Centre and/or remote
Description and requirements:
1. Working closely with co-facilitators for the effective facilitation of the support group
2. Liaising with interested participants, interviewing and selecting group participants
3. Working together with co-facilitators in the following ways:- Preparing and submitting weekly support group reports
- Collecting and analysing the feedback for individual and group progress
- Supporting ad-hoc administrative tasks such as group notes, attendance records and activity reports in a timely and accurate manner
4. Strong belief in gender equality and values of AWARE
5. Group facilitation and/or training experience is preferred
6. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counselling/Psychology/Social Work is preferred
7. Excellent interpersonal, empathy and communication skills in English (verbal and written)
8. Commitment to confidentiality
9. Proficient in MS office, especially Excel and WordTime commitment: Commit to shadowing and/or facilitating a minimum of two support groups a year. Each support group runs for 7 consecutive weeks on weeknight sessions.
