Position: Research Intern
Department: Advocacy and Research Team
Citizenship: Singaporean/PR
Salary: $820 per month
Duration: Minimum 3-month paid internship
Location: Hybrid
The Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE) is hiring a research intern to join our team. As the leading advocacy organisation working to end violence against women, including sexual and domestic violence in Singapore, our advocacy and research team conducts studies to raise awareness and collaborates with partners and policy makers to effect systemic changes on gender equality related issues.
In this role, you will support the advocacy team with the operations and analysis in the research projects. You’ll have the opportunity to develop practical skills in literature review, data handling and analysis, as well as experience working on projects with real-world applications and understand more about gender-focused advocacy in the Singapore climate.
What you’ll do:
- Conduct literature review and organise relevant scholarship
- Transcribe and clean research data for analysis
- Support team in analysis where relevant
- Monitor parliamentary proceedings and media reports on gender equality
Are you the one we’re looking for?
- Strong belief in gender equality and the values of AWARE
- Current student or recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in social sciences/humanities, or related research experience
- 0-2 years of experience conducting literature reviews, desk research, and/or data analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Strong understanding of the local policy landscape
