Big Ball ’12 Performers

 SUPERSONIC LAUGHS

We have lined up some of Singapore’s best-loved entertainers for an evening of witty banter and hilarious spoofs that are sure to keep you rolling in the aisles all night long.

HOSTS PAM OEI & LIM YU-BENG

You know her as the pint-sized veteran actress and comedienne who has starred in over 50 theatre, television and film productions, including Titoudao, Boeing Boeing, and, of course, the much-beloved Dim Sum Dollies shows.

Pam was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy at the Asian Television Awards for three consecutive years (2002 – 2004). At the Life! Theatre Awards in 2001, she won in both the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories on the same night. In 2010, she produced, directed and performed in the AWARE fundraiser event, Superwomen In Concert, at the Esplanade Concert Hall.

At last year’s AWARE Big Ball, she put her formidable comedic talents to use spoofing the Obedient Wives Club. Want to see what Pam has got up her sleeve this year? Get your tickets for the Supersonic Big Ball today!

Joining her will be award-winning stage and screen actor Yu-Beng. If you only know Yu-Beng as a super-intense serious actor from plays like  Bent and Animal Farm, then you are in for a pleasant surprise. Don’t miss this dynamic duo in action!

THE CHESTNUTS GANG TAKES ON THE ALAMAK! AWARDS

They were mining current events for laughs long before The Noose even existed, and the ever-popular Chestnuts is still going strong in its 15th year. Singapore’s very first and longest-running parody show has spoofed movies, TV, current affairs, popular music and the theatre scene, always with a loving sense of nonsense and a sharp sting of social commentary.

Don’t miss the Chestnuts hilarious take on this year’s Alamak! Award – AWARE’s tongue-in-cheek ‘tribute’ to the most jawdroppingly sexist individual, ad, policy or organisation of 2011.

Yes, there is only one ‘winner’, who will be announced at the Supersonic Big Ball. But don’t worry – for the sake of your entertainment, all the nominees will get a roasting from the inimitable Jonathan Lim, Judee Tan, and Dwayne Lau.

THE AWARE RAPPERS

This super-special, top-secret performance from an elite posse of AWARE members and volunteers.Catch these familiar faces as they take on Internet trolls with killer rhymes.

GROOVE

Comprised of two practising lawyers, one stay-at-home Mum and one retiree, these groovy ladies have three children,17 cats, four miniaturist art-houses, a disproportionate consumption of alcohol and 190 years among us.

They first had an opportunity to come together as a group to bond, laugh, and sweat in dance when they performed at the Esplanade for AWARE’s 25th Anniversary Gala, Superwomen In Concert, two years ago. They have continued to dance since, and will be bringing their own brand of play in dance to the Supersonic Big Ball.
